The Nook

Small treasures for big conversations. The Nook is our corner for the things we keep coming back to: books, and other finds that make life's bigger subjects feel a little more approachable and a lot less lonely.

From our bookshelf

We've gathered some of our favourite reads on finding what really matters. Every book you buy through our Bookshop.org shop supports independent bookshops, and us too.

Django the Dachshund and huunuu

In the spotlight

Big conversations start small, and often much earlier than we think. In Joss and the Lucky Boots, psychologist Dr Julie Paine introduces Django, a very small dog with a talent for sniffing out worries, and a gentle way of helping a child talk about what's really bothering them.
We love it for its kindness, its lovely illustrations by Nicola Metcalfe, and the fact that it quietly teaches a skill many of us only learn much later: that saying a worry out loud makes it lighter. A particular gorgeous thing is that you can buy a Django the Worry Dog with a gift box to keep close at hand.
